Messier 27 ... The Dumbbell Nebula
I took this image over the two nights of September 29 and 30, 2026. This nebula is high in the sky in late September in the constellation of Vulpecula. It is about 1,200 light-years in distance. This is the results of an old, dying star that shed its outer layers in a glowing display of color. This effect started nearly 10,000 years ago.
I took this image in narrowband light using Hydrogen alpha, and Hydrogen-beta-Oxygen3 filters with a total of 6hr 20mn of total intergration time.
